Curtains

How do I measure for Curtains?

  • It is always best to fit your track or curtain pole before taking your measurements.
  • For accuracy we advise that you use a metal measuring tape.
  • Always double check your measurements.

CURTAIN WIDTH

Curtain width

If you are using a track, measure the total length of the track - A.

This figure is your curtain width.

If you are using a track with an overlap, measure the total length of the track – A, measure the overlap – B, then add A and B together.

This figure is your curtain width.

If you are using a pole, measure the distance between the two finials (decorative ends) – C.

CURTAIN DROP

  • Decide on where you would like your curtains to finish.
(For floor length curtains, 1.5cms longer than actual floor length is suggested or 1cm shorter.
For sill length curtains either 15-20cms below the sill or 1cm above it is suggested.)

  • Take measurements in several places along the track or pole.  (It is suggested that you use the longest measurement.)

Pole Heading Height

If you are using a track or a pole you need two measurements:

1. The eye drop:

Measure from the track eye (where your curtain hook attaches) to where you want the bottom of the curtains to finish

2. The heading height:

Measure from the track eye (where your curtain hook attaches) to where you would like the top of the curtain to finish.

(for tracks, we suggest a heading height just above the track;

for poles, we suggest a heading height of 2cms upwards depending on your taste; please note that your curtains will hang better with a small heading height;)

Add the two measurements together.  This figure is your curtain drop.
